Indexing

Before you do indexing make sure your spreadsheets has been formatted and prepared for this process, see spreadsheet setup section.

Indexing consists of create a tags lists from your spreadsheets. These tags lists will be used by TagLinker to scan your documents and find the tags in the documents matching these lists.

Typical project lists are:

  • Documents List
  • Equipments List
  • Instruments List
  • Cables List
  • Parts List
  • Etc..

Indexing allow also TagLinker to cross reference your tags against their respective spreadsheets to fetch the tag's information.

Spreadsheets must be on your cloud and can be Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, depending of the cloud provider you chose during the settings.

Custom data source interface rather than spreadsheets can be created on demand.

Scope

The indexer engine scope is limited to the following:

  • Download the spreadsheet you have selected
  • Save the tag name, spreadsheet name and sheet name for each tag (row) in your dedicated local and remote database (books).
  • If this is a documents list we save also the type column.
  • The remote database can be only access by you via TagLinker
  • We do not keep your spreadsheet

Indexing is a very simple and straight forward to use, you browse your folders/spreadsheets and select the one you want to get indexed, you can update, add or delete the indexed worksheets and sheets as well, see the indexing video guide below
